The Department of Instrumental Music was formally established in the year 1967, although classes had already commenced in 1964. A three-year B.A. Course (Pass) and PUC courses were initiated from 1969.
The department has a rich and glorious tradition with nationally and internationally renowned musicians, starting with Shri T.N. Nagar and Shri Vireshwas Patwardhan. Smt. Chanda Jaiswal was officially appointed as the first permanent faculty member in 1967.
