About The Department

The Department of Sanskrit was established in the year 1958. The department is known for its academic excellence and the outstanding performance of its students, many of whom feature in the university's merit list.

The department follows the common course structure of the B.H.U. prospectus, which includes subjects such as Sanskrit and Vedic Literature, Philosophy, Grammar, and Linguistics.

Two specialization groups are offered for students in M.A. (Sanskrit) III & IV Semesters: Veda and Sahitya, which run concurrently.
